rectal Endoscopic Ultrasound

Rectal endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is a minimally invasive procedure that uses ultrasound waves to produce detailed images of the lining of your rectum and nearby organs such as the uterus, prostate, bladder and lymph nodes.

[Here] is our standard preparation sheet for rectal EUS. Your doctor may modify these instructions to meet your needs, and such details will be provided to you.

On the day of your procedure, an intravenous line (IV) may be inserted after you arrive at the hospital, and you will be directed to the procedure room. You will be at the hospital for at least a couple of hours.  This procedure usually requires sedation, and you will need to arrange to have a driver take you home.
